Ground Moisture Barrier
Ground Moisture Barrier is a polythene groundsheet that covers the underfloor of a home. The polythene acts as a barrier to the damp ground and therefore lowers the moisture level in your home. Preventing dampness from rising will reduce condensation and mould, as well as making your home easier to heat – making it more cost effective!
Ground moisture barriers are required in all rental properties where it is possible to install one, and regardless of existing sub-floor vents as these homes are still likely to experience a benefit.

Warmer Kiwi Homes insulation grant

What does a grant cover?
Warmer Kiwi Homes grants are available to eligible homeowners (not for rental properties) and cover:
- 50% of the cost if you live in an area identified as NZDep 5,6 or 7.
- 80% of the cost if you live in an area identified as NZDep 8.
- 90% of the cost if you have a Community Services card, SuperGold Combo card, or live in an area identified as NZDep 9 or 10.
