We use Earthwool Glasswool and Mammoth. The product used is dependant on your property’s location and other factors. As registered installers, we select the right product for your home!

How much ceiling insulation will I need?
You need to meet the energy efficiency requirements set out in the Building Code, whether you are building a new home or making additions or alterations to an existing home.
The requirements vary for different parts of the country, to ensure New Zealand homes are fit for purpose. More insulation is needed for houses in colder climates.
- Zone 1 – Northland, Auckland, Coromandel: R-Value 2.9
- Zone 2 – Rest of the North Island except Central Plateau: R-Value 2.9
- Zone 3 – North Island Central Plateau and all of the South Island: R-Value 3.3
Remember that these are the minimum levels of ceiling insulation when retrofitting to an existing house and it is often worthwhile to install at a level above the very minimum. We recommend asking for a quote on the minimum level plus a higher R-Value and then make a call for what your budget can afford.

How do I meet ceiling insulation - healthy home standards for my rental property?
Ceiling and underfloor insulation has been compulsory in all rental homes since 1 July 2019. The healthy homes insulation standard builds on the current regulations and some existing insulation will need to be topped up or replaced.
All private rentals must comply with the healthy homes standards within 90 days of any new or renewed tenancy after 1 July 2021, with all private rentals complying by 1 July 2024. All boarding houses must comply by 1 July 2021. All houses rented by Kāinga Ora (formerly Housing New Zealand) and registered Community Housing Providers must comply by 1 July 2023.
